Literacy Volunteers of the Montachusett Area (LVMont) is seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors. If you believe in the power of literacy and want to help make a meaningful impact in our community, we’d love to hear from you.

We are especially looking for someone with financial experience to serve as our Treasurer, but we welcome inquiries from anyone who is committed to our mission.

About the Role

As a Board member, you’ll help guide our organization through strategic planning, governance, and fundraising efforts. Your involvement ensures that LVMont continues to provide free, confidential, and individualized tutoring in basic reading, writing, and English to adult learners in the Montachusett area.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Offering strategic direction and oversight of programs and initiatives
  • Ensuring strong financial stewardship and legal compliance
  • Attending at least two-thirds of bi-monthly Board meetings
  • Serving on at least one committee (Finance, Governance, or Fundraising)
  • Representing LVMont at events and helping raise community awareness
  • Making a financial contribution within your means

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Enthusiastic, reliable, and committed to our mission
  • Able to collaborate with a diverse group of students, volunteers, and fellow board members
  • Interest in adult literacy and sensitivity to the challenges faced by our learners
  • Skills in one or more relevant areas such as fundraising, financial management, or digital outreach

This is a volunteer position with a 3-year term, renewable once.
